Exceptional Water Quality at The Lake

We regularly test our water to ensure the safest possible environment for our swimmers. We recently received our latest Certificate of Analysis from independent testing laboratory Mercian Science, and we are thrilled to share that The Lake has achieved “Excellent” bacteriological levels.

To put these numbers into perspective, we have compared our results directly against the UK’s official bathing water quality standards:

Tested Area The Lake's Result UK "Excellent" Standard
E. coli 0 MPN/1ml Up to 500 cfu/100ml
Intestinal Enterococci 0 cfu/ml Up to 200 cfu/100ml
Total Blue Green Algae <20 /100mls Below Lab Detection Limit
pH Level 8.0 Ideal Range: 6.5 - 8.5

Understanding the Results

  • Zero Bacteria: A result of 0 for both E. coli and Intestinal Enterococci is the best possible score. For context, water can still be legally classified as “Excellent” with E. coli levels as high as 500 cfu/100ml. A zero reading is truly outstanding.
  • No Algae Blooms: Total Blue Green Algae levels were below the laboratory’s minimum detection limit (<20 /100mls), signaling clear, healthy water.
  • Perfect pH Balance: The pH scale runs from 0 (highly acidic) to 14 (highly alkaline). Black coffee sits around 5.0, and fizzy water is between 3.0 and 5.0. Our water measures at a very healthy 8.0, which is slightly alkaline and falls perfectly within the ideal natural lake range of 6.5 to 8.5.
